Re-imagining Culture Workshop

An important step in cultivating an organization that is inclusive to staff and clients who hold marginalized identities is to understand the norms and expectations of the culture in which we find ourselves. Once we take the time to step back and look at that, we can more easily make choices on what we want to keep and what we want to do differently.

This workshop offers two focal points: (1) how the mainstream culture impacts our thinking patterns, values, and sense of who belongs and what’s considered “normal,” and (2) what we’d like to do differently in the creative process of re-imagining culture.    

Every workshop we do:

• is designed to meet the needs of the group, be it educators, health and wellness practitioners, therapists, social service nonprofits, etc.,
• acknowledges with respect and care how the healing of personal, ancestral, and cultural trauma is key to dismantling harmful cultural norms and cultivating something new, and
• can be designed for a racially mixed group (with affinity space break-out groups) or for just white folks.

Depending on size of organization, fee is scaled at $600-$1400 (includes all research, planning meetings, and resource materials). Ten percent of fee goes to the Apokalypsis BIPOC Student Youth Grant fund.

Facilitation

For every event we facilitate, from organizational meetings to workshops, we aim to balance power and privilege differentials in a trauma-informed way, while creating plenty of time for self-reflection and connecting with others, curated for participant needs. We are able to facilitate groups either in-person or in virtual spaces like Zoom.

Research

We offer equity and inclusion-centered surveying services for organizations (including schools) that want to get a sense of how folks, especially those with commonly marginalized identities, are doing within the organization. This can include an online survey and/or third party one-on-one listening sessions. Raw results and a highlights report are provided.

Organizational consultation

We offer consultation for organizations looking for help in uprooting internalized white supremacy within their organization or school.
